The Resolutions | Happy New Year!

Blog More

Over the past few months I'm ashamed to admit that I've kinda put blogging on the back burner, not because of lack of interest, but due to a variety of things, the main one being lack of motivation and inspiration. This year I set out to make blogging a much more frequent occurance and loosen the reigns a little on the type of stuff I right about as I feel as though I'm kinda putting pressure on myself to compete with other beauty writers. The Ruby Fox is more than just makeup and it's about time I started creating a more varied blog tackling a variety of issues. Watch out Blogsosphere, the Fox is back!

Get a Body Like This...

(Jen Selter)

As some of you may already know, I'm kinda unhappy with the way my body looks at the moment and have been making a consense effort to eat more healthy, workout and to live the lifestyle of a fitness godess, however, December hit and my whole routine came crashing down. I'm pleased to say that I didn't really gain weight, but I have lost most of the body definition I'd worked so hard to achieve. This year I plan to transform myself completely and become the sculpted goddess I long to be.

Be More Glamorous

If you're like me and keep up to date with beauty and fashion Bloggers/Youtubers, you'll understand me when I say, I wish I looked that perfect all the time! Every single one I've come across, no matter what their style, are always imaculately turned out with flawless hair and makeup, something I wish I could achieve on a daily basis. Born out of jealousy, I've decided to make more of an effort to achieve a more glamorous persona and invest in more quality products to get the absolute best out of me that I can...here's to hoping!

Focus On My Art

For those of you who don't know, I have a passion for all things art related and have lately become more inspired to focus on my own artwork and even produced my own greeting cards for Christmas... Now that I've got back into the swing of things, my passion has never been stronger and I'm currently working on assembling a portfolio and a collection of works for sale. Hopefully this year will be the year that I start some sort of career and if I can earn a few bob from my work I'll be happy.

So that concludes my resolutions for 2014, hopefully I'll be able to stick to them all... I would love to hear what your resolutions are (if you have any), and I hope all the best for you ALL this new year.

Winter Lips

Lord & Berry Shining Lipstick Crayon, Cherry. Collection Deluxe, Prohibition. Revlon Kissable Balm Stain, Crush. Chanel Rouge CoCo Shine, Antigone. Bourjois Colour Boot, Red Sunrise.

Winter is probably my favourite time of year, I love everything about it, the cold weather, the exiting festive events, the fashion...but, most importantly, the makeup. One of my favourites being the classic festive party look, golden glitzy eyes teamed up with a classic velvety red lip, everything about it screams vintage Hollywood glamour, a time where, in my mind, everyone should travel back to, even if it's just for one night.

Usually I'm not really a huge lip wearer, and when I do I tend to play it safe with neutral lip butters or plain glosses. However, something inside of me really wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and plunge into colour...well, dip my foot in at least... As someone with uncomfortably dry lips, I'm constantly armed with a tube of lip balm, obsessively trying to pack in as much moisture as possible, which is why I picked the lipsticks that I did, each one glides onto the lip like butter and gives an instant boost of hydration, However, the only problem I have with the formulation is that I can feel them slipping about, and with the more pigmented ones, I'll end up with the lipstick smudged up my face or missing the middle after my first drink/meal. The setting of each one is slightly different, with the Chanel, Bourjois and Revlon shades, they kinda sink into lip and create a beautiful shiny stain, giving them a lot more longevity than the other two which kinda sit on the surface of the lip with a high gloss finish.

I absolutely adore all of the shades featured, in particular, the Coco Rouge, you can apply one coat and get a pretty rosy pink or you can layer the product up and the colour intensifies to a stunning redish, pinky, raspberry shade. I know there's one or two 'summery' shades in there, but for me they feel Christmasy and I'll be rocking them all throughout the course of this winter.

I hope you enjoyed having a butchers at some of my most loved shades atm, and if you want a detailed review on any of the ones featured just leave a comment and I'll get on it :)

Winter Wishes | A Little Wishlist

1. Topshop, £28 - I LOVE wearing skirts (even through the course of winter), I find them so comfortable and easy to wear, plus I don't get too hot in them! When I watched Tanya Burr's recent Haul video, she produced this little number and I instantly fell in love. I absolutely adore the burgundy shade and velvet texture, it conjures the image of Little Red Riding Hood frolicking through the woods on a crisp snowy day. Another thing I like about it is the fact it has hidden pockets, perfect for Miss Riding Hood to store her lipstick...

2. Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate palette, £39.50 - I've seen this being featured in a number of YouTube videos now, and every time I see it it just makes me yearn for it that little bit more. Every single shade has been perfectly designed to compliment one another (that's not a fact, just my opinion) and each one is timeless. It's the natural looks lover (i.e. me) with tons of sophistication!

3. River Island, £8 - Now that me and my partner have acquired a small family of ducks, I spend a lot of my time out in the back garden tending to their every need, and now that the months have got increasingly colder, I find my hands in desperate need of some protection against the bitter air.

I absolutely love these little cuties, you can either wear them as fingerless gloves or as mittens and they have adorable little penguins on them, perfect! :)

4. Joules, £70 - As I've probably mentioned before on here, I adore anything 'country chic', so it really is no surprise that I want this... Joules have to be one of my favourite clothing brands, they have a real sense of what the 'girl in the country' wants and everything is so brilliantly designed to combine practicality with fashion. I love the colours in this jumper (they kinda remind me of the 1940's) and the unusual one-off sleeve band, it's everything I want in a jumper, and more.

5. Topshop Lipsticks, Screen Siren, £8 and Velveteen Ribbon, £10 - Usually when the weathers changed, I tend to stick to sheer, moisturising lip products as I get quite thirsty lips, but when I saw these my heart started skip a beat. To me, they're both perfect christmasy reds (the kind of red you see on Dorothy's ruby slippers) and would spruce up any look. As far as texture goes, I would say Screen Siren is more of your typical lipstick formulation whereas Velveteen Ribbon is just that, a velvety lip lacquer, both of which are simply perfection.

I hope you enjoyed that, I know wishlists are very popular in the blogging community and some of you may be sick to death of seeing them but each is different and I hope I've managed to inspire you somewhat :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

FINALLY, the day has come! I can honestly say this is by far one of my favourite days of the year. Even if I'm just sitting about the house doing nothing, I still love handing out the pre-made party bags to all the little kiddies and gorging myself to death on the left overs.

Instead of a makeup look, I thought we'd end the countdown with something a little different... My Top 5 Scariest Movies. I LOVE scary movies (although they don't really scare me that much...) and tonight is the perfect night to snuggle under the covers with your bounty of candy and scare yourself witless!

Insidious

As I mentioned above, it's very rare for a film to scare me, but this sent shivers down my spine! For those of you who haven't seen it, it's about this young boy who is being tormented by evil spirits, waiting to take possession of him.

There are many evil characters features, but this has to be the scariest by a mile...

'Old lady ghost' as I call her. There's something which unnerves me deeply about old women ghost...I think it's because you expect a little old deer to be friendly and sweet, but this one if far from that!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I LOVE this film, and the fact that it's based on a true story makes even more creepier. Using the classic 'teen road trip gone wrong' format, 5 teenagers get lured into the trap of Leather Face and his sadistic family, each one getting bumped off along the way. This is one that'll have you screaming out at the telly and plunging your head into a large cushion!

Dead Silence

Yep, another old lady ghost, man I know how to pick em, ey? Instead, though, there's no possession, just the odd turning dead body into ventriloquist dummies... Oh, and if you see her and you scream, she will tear out your tongue...but you'll be fine if you keep quite, you'll just be a bit shaken...

Scream

I couldn't talk about Halloween movies without mentioning this old gem... Now, you probably all know what it's about by, so I wont bother telling you, but looking back on it now at the age of 21, I find the it to be quite amusing rather than scary...don't get me wrong, I don't find serial killers amusing, but the way it's shot and the various different mick takes of it have changed the way I look at it. Saying that, though, it's a classic and almost a tradition to watch this one on Halloween!

Hostel

This, and the rest in the series are brilliant! It's about students who go abroad, stay in a hostel (like you wouldn't have guessed) and get kidnapped and brutally tortured by rich weirdos who find it therapeutic chopping up bodies. After watching this It's put me off staying in a Hostel for life, and I'm sure you'll feel the same too after seeing this!

That's it, that's my Top 5 Scariest movies, I hope you enjoy whatever you're getting up to and try not to make yourselves too sick on sweeties!!
