The Seven Year Itch | Friday Films

Hey there :)

Hollywood is full to the brim of beautiful, glamorous women, but only one woman's fame outshines the rest...the gorgeous Marilyn Monroe. Her distinctive look is the feature of almost every film she's starred in, so there were plenty to choose from but, of course, I had to pick the film responsible for the iconic pose featured bellow...The Seven Year Itch.

Get The Look
STEP 1: To get her glowing complexion, Marilyn Monroe used to apply a thin layer of Vaseline all over her face before applying her base, but as I didn't have any vaseline, I used the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream which worked just as well.

STEP 2: For the base use a medium coverage foundation (I used MAC Face and Body as its extremely buildable and has a soft, silky, matte finish) and then with a high coverage concealer (I used collection 2000) cover any imperfections to get her flawless finish. For the eyes, you want to use a lighter concealer (Jemma Kidd Duo, both shades mixed) to brighten up the under eye area.

STEP 3: For Marilyn's distinctive brows you want to create a high, squarish arch above but bellow you want to create a more rounded shape under the arch.

STEP 4: Apply a white matte eyeshadow (Sleeks Noughart) all over the lid and up towards the brows. Using a light brown shade (Sleeks Bark) , lightly blend it through the crease to create more depth. For her staple flicked liner, you'll need a gel or liquid liner and a fine liner brush. Take the liner from the inner corner of the eye and slowly thicken out the line as you go along the lash line and into the flick. Next take a brown liner/brow pencil and starting 3/4 of the way under the eye, drag it accross and blend it out to create a artificial shadow. Apply three large and two medium lashes on both eyes and then coat both top and bottom lashes in mascara (I used Maybelline The Falsies to create more length and shape).

STEP 5: Taking a coral or pink blushes (Coral Flush), blend it up the cheek bone and place a small amount of the tip of the nose (Marilyn's makeup artist used this trick to shorten the appearance of the nose). Going in with a the highlighter, apply on the apples of the cheek, on the top of the cheek bones, across the forehead, down the nose, on the Cupid's bow, the chin and brow bones.

STEP 6: For her bee stung lips I layered the lips with lipstick and gloss starting with a dark red and then building the shade up as I went along. The ones I used were (in order of use): Rimmel Red Diva, Barry M Cherry Glitter, Maxfactor Flame, Models Own Red hot.

STEP 7: To finish off the look, take a kohl pencil and on the bottom of the apple, apply her famous beauty mark.
