Say "Yes To" Skincare

Over the past month my skin has been in terrible condition, tons of breakouts, blackheads, dryness, greasiness...you name it, my skin has had it. In a desperate bid to restore my skin back to some kind of acceptable standard, I've been obsessed with finding the perfect skincare! I've trawled the videos of many a You Tuber trying to find the perfect products, and when I heard Lilly Pebbles talk about the Yes to Brightening Facial Wipes, I instantly purchased them, along with a few other items of theirs...

Yes to Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Wipes - Since discovering these a month ago, I'm already on my second pack and absolutely loving them. They're exfoliating wipes designed to clean, refresh and clear the skin of impurities. Although they're exfoliating wipes they're extremely gentle and appear and feel just like a normal cleansing wipe, although, what's brilliant about these is the amount of liquid they contain. In one swipe it’s literally like you've lathered up a really gentle cleanser, rinsed it off and left you with beautifully gorgeous, hydrating skin. As they have so much product, they remove makeup effortlessly and are great to use as a morning cleanse if you're lacking time. Another thing I love is the refreshing scent of grapefruit, it's an instant pick me up!
After using them for about a month, I've seen a noticeable difference in the condition of my skin, its clearer, hydrated and has a lovely glow. Definitely a must have!

Yes to Tomatoes Combination skin

Clearing Facial Mask - I'm a bit obsessed by face masks, I'm constantly trying different ones and I do one almost every night and this one has fast becoming a favourite. It has a really nice thick clay texture and dries almost as soon as it’s on the skin and only takes five minutes to take effect and then you just wash it off with a damp wash cloth, finished by a splash of cold water. It leaves your skin feeling really soft, pampered and free of any flakiness. Its intended purpose is to balance the skin and clear it of impurities, something which I can definitely say it has done for me.

Clear Skin Daily Balancing Moisturizer - This is the sister of the facial mask, the much taller, hotter sister. It contains the same skin clearing properties as the mask and it's extremely hydrating, which I need as I have quite hydrated skin most of the time. It's really thick, which I love, and you only need one pump for the entire face and you're good to go! Very much like the face wipes, it leaves the skin with healthy, luminous skin and keeps the moisture and the glow going all day. It works well underneath makeup as well and doesn't feel too greasy and uncomfortable like many moisturizers can, it's just the perfect moisturizer, especially for anyone looking for a clearer, even complexion.

All of these products have found a special place in my heart and what I love is the fact that the Yes to brand uses over 90% natural ingredients in their products so you're not damaging your skin with harsh chemicals, just feeding them with lovely natural goodness. I got my products from Feel Unique but they're also available in Boots so next time you're in there give them a look!

I Love To Be Nude...

Nudes to me scream glamour and sophistication. From smouldering sexy to pretty girl next door, they have the power to tie together almost every look imaginable with total class. For me, nudes are my safety zone, they're what I fall back on when I'm lacking imagination but want to look good. Be it a fashion item or makeup, I probably don't go a day without throwing in a nude and these are the ones I've been loving at the moment...

Necklace, ASOS - I'm  not really a big jewellery wearer, I always feel a bit OTT when I'm draped in jewels but, if I'm going to wear anything it's a necklace. I think there's some beautiful statement pieces available today, and although I love a statement necklace, I fell in love when I saw this. It's a delicate, lightweight necklace that sits just below that holey bit on the neck (the bit where they'd be an Adams apple if you were a man). It's really easy and comfortable to wear and adds a touch of femininity to any outfit.

Bow, ASOS - I have a split personality when it comes to fashion, one day I'll crave glamorous, womanly clothing and then others the little girl inside me screams for all things cute and girly and as you can probably tell, this one is for the latter. I normally wear it on top of a pony tail or I'll take the top section of hair and slide in the back, much like a Zooey Deschanel hair do... It's really easy to clip in and it stays put all day without feeling like it's going to fall out (urgh, I hate that!). A fun little addition to any girl’s accessories collection.

Sunglasses, ASOS - Now these have quite a lot of hate towards them, not by me, but by my friends and family (especially my boyfriend). It seems every time I wear them I get told I look like an elderly woman or streams of mocking laughter, but this hasn't deterred me. I love these glasses, I love the vintage cat flick shape and the fact that the frames look a bit like frosted glass rather than the typical opaque, shiny finish you see on other sunglasses. This summer I'll be wearing them with bride, despite what everyone else might think...

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm, Complex - These are the newest edition in the Revlon Colorburst family, they're the same kind of deal as the others except they're matte which means you get a more pigmented, opaque veil of colour with more staying power. Although they have some beautiful bright shades, at the time I was set on a matte nude and discovered Complex which is a peachy nude. It glides on the lip like velvet and feels really nourishing but it DOES begin to flake after a few hours so I like to dap a bit on the lip and then blend it in with my finger, which acts more a like a stain than a lipstick. It's not your typical matte as it isn’t completely flat, it has almost undetectable shimmer running through to give the lip a bit more life. The only thing I don't like it the trade mark scent of the Colorburts products, it's like a really strong menthol smell, a bit like smearing a Polo on your lips...

M.A.C, Patisserie - I don't really feel I need to explain why I love this so much, it's a much loved product by the beauty community and has many reviews on it so you're probably all sick of hearing about it. For me it's just the most perfect, it goes with any look and enhances the natural lip, making them look nourished and kissable. It is without a doubt one of my staple lip products and will be for a very long time.

Heeled Sandal, ASOS - Summer footwear is kind of a pain in the arse for me, flat sandals make my feet look ginormous, wedges make me feel clumsy and heels make me feel too dressy but these are my perfect summer shoe. They have a slight heel which gives the foot a sex shape but they still have a really nice, casual feel to them. The strap rests just on the ankle bone and has an adjustable band so it fits perfectly for you and they DON'T make your ankles look enormous! They're really comfortable to wear and go with just about anything, a real summer staple.

In Love With The Goddess | Charlotte Tilbury - Golden Goddess Palette

Although it hasn't been that long since the launch, Charlotte Tilbury is quickly becoming one of this century’s most iconic beauty brands. Working as a makeup artists to some of the world’s most beautiful women for over 20 years, her new brand has the tools to give every woman the ability to look and feel gorgeous. As an admirer of Tilbury and her philosophy that every woman can conquer the world with the right makeup, I've been dying to get my hands on one of her many amazing products. Flicking through her collection on Selfridges, and in pursuit of the perfect bridal palette (I'm getting married a year in October...hopefully...), I came across the Golden Goddess and admittedly clicked 'add to cart'!

Arriving on Tuesday, I couldn’t wait to try it out! Now, admittedly, when I saw the colours in the flesh I was kind of pessimistic that the copper tones would work with my deathly pale skin, but when I actually applied it I think it kind of worked...

The palette comes with four shades, each intended for a pacific purpose: 1. Prime 2. Enhance 3. Smoke and 4. Pop. Following that guideline, I worked the shades in order and to suite my pacific needs. Separately, each colour is gorgeous in its own right, but together they blend seamlessly to create a gorgeous balance or gold’s and bronze's which, for me, greatly enhanced my green eyes, which I love! I used the Real Techniques Shading Brush to apply the shadows, and each one effortlessly blended onto the eye and kind of made it impossible to apply too much or too little, which is great for people who are perhaps a bit nervous when it comes to eye makeup. I also found that it lasted all day, I applied it at 9:00am and when it came to taking it off again at 5:00pm it was still in the same condition as it was when I applied it, great for someone like me who hates the fuss of re-application during the day! Although it stays in place all day, it's easy to remove when you want to, which in my opinion is fantastic because I hate it when you're left with shadow stains that just won’t budge. Although I love the palette, I definitely think one of the Tilbury eyeliners is needed to add more definition on the water line, which I'll promptly be purchasing!

A Woman In Love | Essie Watermelon

Like many beauty bloggers, I'm obsessed by nail products, especially Essie and when I saw this shade I instantly fell in love. Now, I would like to stress that the camera really doesn't do the shade any justice, infact the colours way off! In real life, it's a succulant cross between a watermelon and raspberries instead of the orange red hue you see before you...

Anyway, why have I fallen so hopelessly?...Well, to start with, the colour is so beautifully chic and goes with just about anything. It's the perfect way to inject a splash of berry without having to stretch too far out of your comfort zone. It's a shade that would look stunning on every type of skin tone and it lasts for ages. Even now, after about a week, it's still going strong with absolutely no chipping and you don't even need a topcoat, the finish professional enough on it's own. Another thing I love about this product, and just about all Essie's polishes, is that it's fast and easy to apply. The brush covers quite a large amount of the nail and the percision is rather impressive. I encourange all of you to check this one out, I dare you not to love it.

Creations | Art Update

So as some of you may already know, I like art. I like looking at it, talking about it, and, most importantly, doing it. For a while I gave up the will due to serious doubts about my abilities, I was constantly comparing myself to other artists and obsessing over every little detail, everything I did had to be perfect and if I didn't think it was perfect, it would end up in the trash. Lately, however, I've come to terms with the fact that although I may not be the best in the world, I'm not the worst, I've learnt to let the little things go and I now have a much more relaxed attitude towards the subject, which ultimately makes the process much more enjoyable.

To keep you in the loop, I thought I'd share with you a few little bits I've done lately, and once seen, I think you'll be able to pick up on a certain theme...I LOVE ANIMALS!!

"Pete the Pigeon" - prismacolor

"Robyn, Alex's Robin" - Prismacolor

"Pheobe Pheasant" - Pen

"Stanley Stag" - Pen

"Balwin the Bald Eagle" - Prismacolour

"Papa Penguin" - Lino Print

As you can probably tell, I'm very much at a stage of experimenting with different styles and materials, which is intentional, experimenting gives me a chance to pin point my strengths and weaknesses and to make me an all round better artist. I also think that restricting yourself to one particular medium takes the fun out of art, you need to push yourself into trying new things, the results are often not what you expected...
