Autumn TAG

Hey there :)

So firstly, I would like to apologise for the fact I haven't been around in a while, I've just been really busy and as a result of that, Ruby Fox has been a bit neglected as of late :( BUT I'm back today and seen as it's Autumn/Fall, I've decided to do the Autumn tag for you, enjoy!...

1. Favourite thing about Autumn?

As someone who hates heat and is ALWAYS hot, I very much appreciate the sudden drop in temperature and the crisp, foggy mornings. I also LOVE natures autumnal colours, they're beautiful and make me feel all warm inside :)....oh, and I LOVE Halloween! I love all the theatrics of it, dressing up in the most ridiculous costumes, carving pumpkins and eating toffee apples.

2. Favourite drink?

As a Yorkshire lass, I'm a naturally born tea drinker (milk, not too milky, and no sugar) but I tend to increase my daily intake once the temperature drops because I can enjoy it more without overheating! I also LOVE Options Belgium hot chocolate, I take one to bed with me every night to help me unwind.

3. Favourite scent/candle?

I absolutely LOVE the smell of pumpkins, especially when the candle inside's burning, there's something about it that makes me feel warm inside... When it comes to perfumes I usually stick to my Lady GaGa Fame, it's the only perfume that doesn't give me a headache and it stays all day.

4. Best lipstick?

In the colder months I don't really wear that much lipstick, I tend to stick to lip balm (my favourite being Nivea Hydro Care) or a lip butter (Revlon Lip Butters/L'OReal Rouge Caresse) when I want to inject a splash of colour.

5. Go to moisturiser?

My skin is always in need of some hydration, so the moisturiser's I use are always similar all year round. One of my favourites is the Soap & Glory Body Butter, and although it's not specifically a moisturiser, I find applying it before bed really helps the skin sink in moisture it needs and leaves it feeling beautifully soft and nourished.

6. Go to eye colour?

On a day to day basis, I tend to stick to neutrals with a bit of shimmer running through them, the MUA Heaven and Earth palette is my go to on a daily basis, it has such a gorgeous array of shades that would suit anyone. When it comes to a more special occasion, I like to smoke the eye up a bit with some browns or I'll add accents of aubergine to really make my green eyes pop.

7. Favourite music to listen to?

I'm not really that big on music atm, I'm more enjoying the calm, silent atmosphere, but when I am in the mood for a bitta music, I tend to go for more vintage music from the 1940's-1990's.

8. Favourite outfit?

I really love country fashion, and I enjoy throwing on a pair of wellies and my barber/joules jacket. If I'm not in a tea dress, I'm usually in leggings teamed with a loose vest/shirt.

9. Autumn treat?

I'm quite tight with money so I don't really treat myself, nor do i get tret that often, but when I do, it's usually seasonal clothing from my mother. Her latest buy was this really cute grey and black knit jumper with two poodles wrapped around each side, adorable.

10. Favourite place to be?

At home in front of the roaring log burner with my boyfriend OR snuggled in bed, doing a puzzle and watching TV and cocoa at hand.

I hope you enjoyed that, and I tag ALL of you to give it a go :)

Thanks for reading x

Haul & Review | Superdrug

Hey there :)

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I LOVE to beauty shop, especially when it doesn't break the bank, so, as you can imagine, Superdrug is my idea of heaven, and these days, you can find some amazing products to rival even the best highend ones. At the backend of last week, I decided I would have a little peek on the Superdrug website and here's what I ended up with...

Antomicals 'no old bags allowed' Eye Gel

If you've seen my post on the Clinique Even Better Eyes dark circle corrector, you'll know how much I adore that product, but at £29 it's a little bit pricey to keep repurchasing so when I saw this I was on it like a rash... Unlike the Clinique one, it's a clear, gel textured formula that you work around the eye with your ring finger and within about 2 hours you can start to see any dark circles or puffiness slowly fade away. As it takes a bit of time to start to work, you get better results if you apply it before bed and then you'll wake up with gorgeous, bright, bagless eyes. As an alternative to the Even Better Eyes, I think the the Clinique one definitely has the edge but at such a low price it does it's job. What I like most about the product, though, is the stylish typography packaging, it's so cute and fun to read when you're applying the product.

Mud Therapy

One of my all time favourite things to do is take off all my makeup, run a nice hot, candle lit bath and relax with a nice, detoxing face mask. Because of this, I always make sure I have a hefty supply of face masks so I never run out, and this little beauty is the latest addition to my collection... When I first saw this, I was instantly attracted to the packaing, it prevents the product from getting everywhere and allows you to use it over and over (unlike most face masks out there) until you've used it all up. Although it's a 'mud' mask, it has the texture and consitancy of a moisturizer so it feels quite lightweight but once it starts to set, it becomes really tight and slightly unfortable but when you've washed if off after 10-15, you're left with beautifully soft, deep cleansed skin. I love this product and would reccommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, good quality mask.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine, Dragonfruit

As you all probably know by now, I'm in head over heels for the Barry M Gelly Nail polishes and this little beauty is the latest member of my collection. Now if you're not familiar with the Gelly polishes, their basically an intensely high shine, chip resistant polish that last for over a week. They come in a range of gorgeously chic shades and this is my latest favourite, it's a beautiful, fun, barbie pink that adds a pop to even the drearest of outfits, stunning and right up my boulevard!

Tresemme Karatin Conditioner
As someone who has dry, frizzy hair, I'm always on the lookout for a conditioner that's going to make my hair smooth, sleek and pack it full of moisture and as I'm a fan of Tresemme anyway, I thought it only made sense that I tried out this one. It's enriched with Keratin (a component that structures the hair) intended to nourish and smooth each strand and make it more managble. This drew me in instantly as my hairs kinda felt a bit brittle lately, on top of its natural dryness so I was really excited to try it out.
When I applied the product, I took about half the average ammount of shampoo and starting from the ends of the hair, I massaged it upward (this is to prevent the roots from looking greasy) and then rinsed if off after about 2-4 minutes. It left my hair a LOT smoother and softer than it was before, it also left me with a subtle, healthy shimmer, does just what it says on the tin!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

Every review, haul or favourites video/blog I see, seems to be boasting about how amazing this product is, so naturally I thought I was on to a winner, but I was wrong... Now, I don't mean to offend anyone but I HATE this concealer. Yes, I know hate is a very strong word but, I don't know if it's the hype that's been surrounding it or just my own personal expectations, I seriously dislike this product. When I applied it, I expected it reduce my dark circles and brighten the eye area, but instead, it had a really watery consitancy which just looked transparent on the skin and just didn't have any effect at all. The only good thing I can say about this concealer is that the formula works with dry skin and doesn't look cakey, but apart from that, it's not worth it.

This One Shine Mist

As I mentioned before, I'm always in pursuit of hair products that are going to inject a bit of life back into my dull hair and, as I've been wanting to try out some shine mists for a while now, I thought it was only right I got this. Suitable for coloured hair (perfect for me!), it contains argan oil, lychee extract and UV filter desinged to smooth, shine and protect the hair... Now, I have to say, I wasn't too keen on this product, when I first applied it I was taken back by the strong, disgusting scent (not far from the odour of urine), which put me off instantly and once used again, I didn't actually notice any change in the texture or sheen of my hair, it was just as if I was spraying my hair with a really musky body spray. Now just because I don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't suitable for everyone but I would definitely advise investing in a mist a bit dearer and that you know if going to do it's job.

I hope you enjoyed that, I'm sure I'll be purchasing more products soon to share soon :) As always, don't hesitate to leave a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as I can :)

August Favourites

Hey everyone! :)
This months list of favourites isn't the longest or particullary beauty focused, but everything included I have absolutely LOVED so I thought it was worth sharing with you all...enjoy!

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine, Prickly Pear

I love trying out different polishes, and as I'd been hearing/reading so many good reviews on the Barry M Gelly polishes, I thought it was about time I gave it a try, and boy was I impressed... Choosing which shade I wanted was a bit of a tough dicission as the range is full of gorgeous, chic, Essie like shades, but I finally decided on Prickly Pear, a gorgeous violet shade, which when hit by certain light, looks like a kinda cornflour blue. What I love most about this product, though, is because it's gel based you get an incredible high shine finish AND it lasts far longer than the average polish does. It's also extremely chip resistant, which is perfect if you're constantly working with your hands like I am. After being so impressed by this product, I have now ordered another shade (Dragon Fruit) and intend on purchasing more! Certainly worth a try...

The White Queen

Throughout the course of August, I have been absolutely obsessive over The White Queen series showed on BBC1, but, like all good things, it sadly met it's end after 10 amazing episodes. For those of you who haven't got a clue what I'm talking about, The White Queen is a British drama set in the midst of the War of the Roses. The series was adabted from Philippa Gregory's series of novels, The Counsins' War and, like many of her novels, tells the story from the prespective of a strong, femal character, Elizabeth Woodville a.k.a The White Queen.
As someone who is a big fan of Philipa Gregory and LOVES historical dramas, I was extremely excited for the series and luckily, it lived up to my high expectations...it has to be one of the most gripping, exciting programmes I have seen in a very long time and I would reccommend it to anyone, even if you're not a history fan! Also, It stars the gorgeous Max Irons as King Edward (bellow), definitely worth the watch alone...

Kate Lipstick, 02

Now I wrote a review on this one a few weeks back, so I wont babble on too much but I have been absolutely LOVING this lipstick this month... As some of you may already know, I love lipstick, but I can never find one that stays in place, so when I discovered this little gem I was over the moon! It has the most AMAZING staying power, It lasts literally ALL day with very little movement (I even had a nap in it and it was still in good condition) AND it has really intense pigmentation, simply brilliant!

Chocolate Heaven

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I spent the night at The Wensleydale Heifer, a local boutique hotel, where we stayed in their brilliantly themed room, Chocolate Heaven. Everywhere you looked there was bowls full of chocolate, even the bedside draw was packed! What I fell in love with the most, though, was the luxurious, relaxing decor, so much so that I have plans on decorating my own room similar so I can bask in luxury everyday. Unluckily, though, I had one beer, pewked (yes, I'm a HUGE lightweight, that's why I don't drink...) and was unable to make it to the reaturant so, kindly, the staff kindly offered to bring the food to us and boy was it amazing!! Three courses of the most gorgeous food in the most luxurious of settings, it really was heaven.

So that was my August favourites, I hoped you enjoyed it:)
